Semplicemente il miglior gelato che ho mangiato a Venezia! Lo consiglio ad occhi chiusi!

Tra i migliori gelati di Venezia, e non caro. Al contrario, i colori “flash” di altri ghiacciai non ispirano nulla di buono. Profumi onesti e amichevoli, insoliti (menta-zenzero, ecc.).

We got there right before closing and the man was kind enough to still serve us as he was packing up for the day. I had the pistachio and chocolate gelato and they were both very good.

Update April 2024: I'm back in Venice and after checking into my hotel, I headed to my favorite gelateria. I always have three scoops. Today I had chocolate, coconut, and mint. I've had lots of mint ice-cream in my life but this was the first time it really tasted like mint. Speaking with Roberto, the owner, gave me a chance to practice my Italian and learn about his gelato. He macerates (I think that's the word, my Italian isn't geared to such technical words!) the leaves and goes from there. I told him I knew I wouldn't like it, but asked for a taste of the asparagus gelato. It's not bad, but not for me. Roberto said it was pretty popular. He showed me the bag of wild asparagus that he'd be using to make another batch. He also showed me a tub of wisteria gelato. It wasn't on display, so maybe it was a work in progress. I'll be in Venice for three more days so he'll be seeing me again. Update 2023: I was so happy to see that this gelateria was open when I passed it at 10 am this morning, because, for me, it's never too early for gelato. I had three scoops and they were wonderful: coconut, malt, and Malaga. When I asked, Silvia was very kind and explained what's in the Malaga. There are several ingredients, including eggs and mascarpone cheese, but the ingredients that make this Malaga are raisins that have been soaked for several days in sweet wine. There are often some very unusual flavors. I didn't notice any today, but I prefer the more standard ones anyway. Update: April 2022: I just got back to Venice and the first thing I did after checking into my hotel was head to this gelateria. I have been to Venice quite a few times and have tried many gelato shops. This is one of my favorites. Today, I had two chocolate flavors: Ciccolata and Gianduia Bacio. Both were excellent. I will be here for two more days so I'm sure I'll be back before I leave. Original posting: October 2021: tried this gelateria twice (and will go back the next time in Venice). Last night I had Gianduia Bacio. Today I had Gianduia Bacio and also Pistacchio. The owner was very nice. I asked to try Curcuma (turmeric) but it was a bit too strange for me. There were also other unusual flavors, such as Carota (carrot) and Sedano (celery). The price was very reasonable. Only 2.20 euros for the two scoops. I'm old enough to remember making home-made ice-cream, and for some reason this reminded me of it. Lovely!

Very delicious ice cream, interesting variants (e.g. celery, ginger, cardamon...). My first choice for ice cream in Venice.
